Eligibility and vacancy details
The recruitment includes 146 posts under Schedule A in Secretariat departments and 120 posts under Schedule B in Directorate and regional offices across West Bengal. Candidates must have passed the Madhyamik examination from West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or an equivalent board. Applicants must also have elementary computer knowledge and a minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute in English. Candidates must know how to read, write, and speak Bengali, unless their mother tongue is Nepali.

Selection process
The examination has three successive stages:
- Paper 1 is an objective English screening test of 100 marks held in Kolkata.
- Paper 2 is dictation and transcription for 400 marks.
