Vacancy details
The 21 posts are 7 Unreserved, 7 OBC, 4 SC, 3 EWS and none for ST. Ten percent of them is reserved for eligible Ex-servicemen within these numbers, and unfilled Ex-servicemen posts can go to candidates of the same category. ITBPF calls the count tentative.
Eligibility
A plain 12th pass does not qualify. On top of 10+2, applicants need one of these two routes.
- Motor Mechanic certificate from a recognised institution or an Industrial Training Institute, plus three years of practical experience in a reputed workshop.
- Three-year Diploma in Automobile Engineering.
Qualifications must be held by 27 October 2026, and the notified physical and medical standards also apply.
Application fee
₹100 for UR, OBC and EWS candidates, nil for SC and Ex-servicemen. Payment is online only through the portal and is non-refundable.
Selection process
Selection runs through PET and PST, document check with the written exam, practical skill test and the medical exam. PET carries no marks and asks for a 1.6 km race in 7 minutes 30 seconds, a long jump of 11 feet and a high jump of 3.5 feet.
Written exam and skill test
The written exam has 100 objective questions worth 100 marks in 2 hours: 10 on general knowledge, 10 on mathematics, 20 on Hindi or English and 60 on trade theory. Qualifying marks are 35% for general, EWS and Ex-servicemen candidates and 33% for SC and OBC. The 50-mark practical skill test needs 25 marks. Shortlisting for the skill test goes to ten times the category-wise posts, and final merit rests on written exam marks.
