If Sankatahara Chaturthi falls on a Tuesday, it is called Angaraka Chaturthi, which is considered highly auspicious. How to Perform Sankatahara Chaturthi Pooja

The Sankatahara Chaturthi ritual should ideally be observed for 3, 5, 11, or 21 months, starting on a Chavithi day. On the vrat day, devotees wake up early, take a holy bath, and then worship Ganesha. A piece of white or red cloth about one meter long should be placed in front of Lord Ganesha and decorated with turmeric and kumkum.

Devotees should think of their desires and place three handfuls of rice on the cloth. Then, they should keep two dry dates and two coins in a betel leaf, recalling their wishes again, and tie it up as an offering.

Reciting the Sankatana Shana Ganesh Stotra and reading the story of Sankatahara Chaturthi is also part of the rituals. The bundle prepared should be placed before the deity, along with incense and offerings of coconut or fruits. After the pooja, one may visit a nearby Ganesh temple and perform 3, 11, or 21 circumambulations.

It is crucial not to move the deity until sunset. Following sunset, devotees should bathe again, light a lamp, and offer a simple pooja to Ganesha. At the end of the ritual, prepare a rice pongal offering with the bundled rice and enjoy it later in the evening.

The Significance of the Sankatahara Chaturthi Vrat is highlighted in a story about Indra’s chariot halting unexpectedly due to a sinner’s glance. Fasting on this day can help absolve sins and allow souls to reach Ganesha’s world.
