Duare Ration Scheme West Bengal - Summary

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee launched the ‘Duare Ration’ scheme (ration at doorstep) to deliver ration directly to beneficiaries on November 16, 2021. This initiative aims to support approximately 10 crore people in the state. The Chief Minister also mentioned that the government has decided to increase the commission for ration dealers from Rs. 75 to Rs. 150 per quintal of food grains.

This Duare Ration Scheme is designed to benefit 10 crore residents of West Bengal. The Chief Minister urged all ration dealers to cooperate and ensure the scheme’s success. Starting now, over 10 crore people will receive their ration at their doorsteps on a fixed day each month. 🏠

West Bengal Duare Ration Scheme 2021 – Key Highlights

  • Under the Duare Ration scheme, each dealer can appoint at least two individuals to assist in delivering the ration.
  • According to the Chief Minister, each person delivering the ration will earn a salary of Rs. 10,000 per month. The State Government will contribute Rs. 5,000, while the remaining amount will be provided by the dealer. This will create 42,000 jobs for about 21,000 dealers.
  • The West Bengal Government is expected to spend Rs. 160 crores on this scheme.
  • The State Government will give financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh to around 21,000 ration dealers to help them buy vehicles for delivering rations to the public.
  • To encourage more dealers to participate, the requirement to apply for a ration dealer will be reduced from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 50,000 under the ration at doorstep scheme.
