West Bengal Aam Admi Bima Yojana (AABY) Form - Summary

The West Bengal Aam Admi Bima Yojana (AABY) form is essential for khadi artisans and their families, providing crucial risk cover. This government scheme initially offered artisans a risk cover of up to Rs. 20,000 for natural death and Rs. 50,000 for accidental death. These figures have seen enhancements over the years. Since 2006-07, the LIC of India has increased the risk cover to (i) Rs. 30,000 for natural death and Rs. 75,000 for accidental death, (ii) Rs. 75,000 for permanent disability (loss of two eyes/limbs or use) due to an accident, and (iii) Rs. 37,500 for partial disability. Importantly, these benefits require no extra payment from the beneficiaries or the Government of India.

Additional Benefits of the AABY Scheme

One notable benefit under the AABY is the Shiksha Sahayog Yojana, which provides extra coverage at no additional premium costs. The children (limited to two per family) of khadi artisans covered under AABY can receive up to Rs. 1,200 per year per child for tuition fees. This support is available for those studying from classes IX to XII, including students enrolled in Industrial Training Institutes (ITI).

Affordable Premium Costs for Artisans

The premium for this invaluable insurance is set at a very affordable rate of just Rs. 100. Here’s how the contributions are divided:

  • The contribution from the social fund (Govt. Of India) is Rs. 50.00
  • Institution contribution is Rs. 25.00
  • KVIC contribution amounts to Rs. 12.50
  • Each artisan contributes Rs. 12.50

This makes the AABY an accessible option for many artisans in West Bengal. For complete details about the AABY and to download the form, feel free to download the PDF below. Your family’s future is worth it! 📄
