UPSC CSE 2024 Selection Process

UPSC CSE Prelims Exam 2024: There will be an objective MCQ-based exam consisting of General Studies (Paper I) and CSAT (Paper II). It’s a qualifying stage, and your score doesn’t contribute to the final merit.
UPSC CSE Main Examination 2024: A written descriptive exam testing knowledge, understanding, and analytical skills across nine papers.
UPSC Interview 2024: Those who qualify for the exam will be called for the interview.

Register for the exam. If OTR is completed, log in using the valid credentials.

UPSC Prelims Syllabus 2024

Paper 1:

Current events
History and Indian National Movement.
Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
Indian Polity and Governance-Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights
Issues, etc.
Economic and Social Development-Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change – that do not require
subject specialization.

Paper 2:

Comprehension;
Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
Logical reasoning and analytical ability;
Decision-making and problem-solving;
General mental ability;
Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data
interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc. — Class X level)
