Eligibility for Maharashtra Ration Card Form
The eligibility criteria to obtain a smart ration card in Maharashtra include the following:
- Families with a yearly income up to Rs. 15,000 must be listed in the IRDP list from 1997-98.
- None of the family members should be a doctor, lawyer, architect, or chartered accountant.
- No one in the family should be a professional taxpayer, GST taxpayer, or income taxpayer, or be eligible to pay such taxes.
- The family must not own a residential telephone or a four-wheeler vehicle.
- Family members should not own more than two hectares of rain-fed land, one hectare of semi-irrigated land, or half a hectare of irrigated land.
- BPL Ration Cards will be temporarily issued to all Vidi workers and members of the Pardhi and Kolhati communities.

Types of Ration Cards in Maharashtra
The Maharashtra state government has introduced different types of Ration Cards with specific eligibility criteria. Here’s a brief overview of the different categories:
- Yellow Ration Card – This card is exclusively for very poor BPL families. The criteria are as follows:
- The annual family income must not exceed Rs. 15,000, and the family should be part of the IRDP list from FY 1997-98.
- No family member can be a doctor, lawyer, architect, or Chartered Accountant (CA).
- No member of the applicant’s family should be eligible for business tax, sales tax, or income tax.
- The family must not possess a telephone or 4-wheeler vehicle.
- Families cannot own more than 2 hectares of land, even in the names of other family members.
- All Bidi workers, members of the Pardhi and Kolhati communities, and abandoned women can get this card.
- Rural workers from closed mills, yarn mills, and factories can also apply for this yellow ration card.
- Kesari Ration Card – This card is available for families with the following criteria:
- The annual family income must be between Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 1 lakh.
- The family must not possess a 4-wheeler vehicle, except for taxi drivers.
- Applicants must not own more than 4 hectares of land.
- White Ration Card – Families with an annual income exceeding Rs. 1 lakh, or those owning 4-wheelers, can apply for this card under the Tricolor Scheme.
