List of Coal Mines for Auction - Summary
The process for the auction of coal mines for commercial mining began on June 18, 2020. The Coal Ministry has made some important updates to the list of coal mines included in this auction process. This is part of the effort to open up the coal sector and introduce coal mining more effectively.
Recent Updates to Coal Mines Auction
- Addition of Dolesara, Jarekela, and Jharpalam-Tangarghat Coal Mines to the 1st Tranche of Auction under the MMDR Act, 1957.
- Withdrawal of Morga South Coal Mine from the 1st Tranche of Auction under the MMDR Act, 1957.
- Withdrawal of Fatehpur East, Madanpur (North), Morga-II, and Sayang Coal Mines from the 11th Tranche of Auction under the CM(SP) Act, 2015.
This means that there are currently 38 coal mines available for auction for commercial mining under the 11th Tranche of Auction under the CM(SP) Act, 2015, and the 1st Tranche of Auction under the MMDR Act, 1957.
Details of the Auction Process
The Ministry of Coal has launched the auction process for a total of 41 coal mines. These are divided into the 11th Tranche of Auction under the CM(SP) Act, 2015, and the 1st Tranche of Auction under the MMDR Act, 1957.
