జాతీయ గీతం తెలుగులో – Janaganamana - Summary

Janaganamana, the national anthem of India, is steeped in history and pride. This beautiful piece is derived from a Bengali anthem created by the notable Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. It was first sung at the Indian National Congress meeting on 27 December 1911 in Calcutta, showcasing the spirit of the nation. In January 1912, the song was published by the magazine “Tatva Bhodini” under the title “Bharata Vidhata”.

In 1912, Tagore’s niece Sarla Devi Chowdhury performed this anthem with a group of school children before esteemed Congress members, including Indian National Congress President Bishan Narayan Dhar and Ambika Charan Mazumdar. The first stanza of this soul-stirring song, Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata, was officially adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly as the National Anthem on 24th January 1950.
