West Bengal EWS Certificate Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants should not belong to SC/ST/OBC or any other minority community to be eligible for the certificate.
- The gross family income will be checked from various sources, such as salary, business, or profession, and should not exceed ₹8 lakhs per year. It is crucial to verify the income from the previous year of the application.
- Additionally, the applicant’s family must not own specific assets, including:
- Agricultural land of 5 acres or more.
- A residential apartment of 1000 sq. ft. or larger.
- A residential plot of 100 sq. yards or larger in certain municipalities.
- A residential plot of 200 sq. yards or larger in all other municipalities.
- If the family owns property in various locations, all those properties will be considered as a single unit.
- The applicant’s family for the EWS certificate includes the applicant, parents, spouse, siblings, and children under 18 years of age.
How to Apply for the EWS Application Form in West Bengal?
To apply for the certificate, you first need to obtain an “Income and Asset Certificate” from specified authorities. The relevant departments, as mentioned in Annexure C, include:
- Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO)
- District Magistrate (DM)
- Municipal Corporation Office

- Print the downloaded application form and complete all required details.
- Once the form is filled out, attach the following documents:
- Citizenship certificate or EPIC of the applicant or parents.
- Self or Parent’s PAN card.
- Birth certificate or Madhyamik admit card of the candidate.
- Payslip of the applicant or their parents.
- Domicile certificate.
- ROR or Registered deed.
- Self-declaration of family income, family assets, and sub-caste.
- Certificate verifying the sub-caste.
- Submit the completed application form along with the above documents to the appropriate authority.
After submission, your application will undergo thorough verification. If any information is found to be false or incorrect, your application may be rejected immediately. Conversely, if all details are verified as correct and genuine, the concerned authority will issue your EWS certificate in the format prescribed in Annexure C.
