Bol Choth ni Varta Gujarati - Summary
Bol Choth ni Varta is an interesting story about a mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law living in a village. When Shravan month arrived, the mother-in-law told her daughter-in-law, “Today is Bol Choth. I will go to the river to take a bath. In my absence, please cook wheat.” The mother-in-law was referring to cooking wheat, but the daughter-in-law misunderstood and thought she meant the calf called “Ghuhlo,” as she had never prepared wheat before. So, she mistakenly cut the calf and put it on the stove to cook.
Understanding the Story
When the mother-in-law returned from the river and asked, “Did you cook the wheat?” the daughter-in-law replied, “Yes, but I have cut the Ghuhlo and put it on the stove!” The mother-in-law panicked and asked, “Which Ghuhlo are you talking about?” It was the calf from their cow! The daughter-in-law clarified that she was only following what her mother-in-law had said.
The Consequences of Misunderstanding
The mother-in-law was shocked and burst into tears. It was Bol Choth, and everyone was supposed to worship the calves that day. She thought about how to face the villagers and decided to take the cut calf and hide it until things settled down. They quietly went outside the village, but fate had other plans.
In the meantime, the cow, who had gone to graze, sensed something was wrong and rushed back in a panic. With a sudden charge, the cow hit the pot, and the pieces of the calf tumbled out, alive and well! The villagers were shocked but happy to see the calf alive. The daughter-in-law and mother-in-law explained the misunderstanding, and everyone rejoiced.
The incident led them to vow that they would celebrate Bol Choth every year without fail, remembering to cook wheat, not their beloved calves. It served as a reminder about the importance of communication and understanding in relationships.
