Sivadevuni Katha in Telugu
Those who have this nomu have to do Shivaradhana every Monday, for 21 years. On the day of Nomu, one has to wear a one-legged torah … On the second day, one has to wear a two-knotted torah. Changing the torah every 21 weeks is called ‘short training’. From the 42nd week onwards, the three-knotted torah has to be worn.
After completing 21 years, Lord Shiva should be anointed with 21 substances. The lamp should be lit with 21 wicks. 21 Brahmins should be cremated. Also meals should be provided for men and women over 21 years of age. Only then will the ‘Maha Udyapana’ program come to an end.
If we go into the story of the glory of this Monday Nomu, Lord Shiva appeared because a house was looking at the Monday Nomu. When she asked him to give her offspring, she gave birth to a young son, saying that it was not in their horoscope. Even knowing that the child would die at the age of sixteen, she still had faith in Lord Shiva.
On Monday, the day her son turned 16, she performed Nomu Maha Udyapa. She handed over the son to her husband and went to the Shiva temple. Despite rumors that her son’s condition was not good, she completed the training program with dedication. As a result Lord Shiva appeared and gave her some akshits and told her son to cool down and disappeared.
Her husband told her that their son had died while she was stepping into the house. With that she sprinkled the axillae of her hand on her son’s corpse. Immediately he got up alive and sat down. With that, the couple’s happiness was boundless. This story shows the glory of Nomu as the three of them heartily thanked Shivayya ……. Amrita
