Chakdaha College, one of the oldest and most reputed Higher Education institutions, affiliated to the University of Kalyani, Nadia, was established as a Pre-University college in 1972 (continued till 1977), under the pioneering initiative of the-then Deputy Speaker of West Bengal Assembly, Hon’ble Haridas Mitra and inaugurated by the-then Chief Minister of West Bengal, Hon’ble Siddhartha Shankar Roy in 1975, the College started its journey in its new campus, i.e., the present one, with 5/6 avowed faculties, mostly temporary, with the exception of the permanent Principal, only 1 permanent office-staff, 98 pupils and above all, with the blessing of the localites as the desire for such a centre of academics had been nursed for decades.
