Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, has announced that the last date for submitting Haj 2021 application forms has been extended to 10th January 2021. This is wonderful news for those looking to perform Haj, as the estimated cost per Haj pilgrim has also been greatly reduced.
Important Information for Haj Pilgrims
Shri Naqvi explained that the original deadline for Haj 2021 applications was 10th December 2020, but now you have more time to submit your application. Over 40,000 applications have already been received for Haj 2021, including more than 500 applications from women who wish to perform Haj without a “Mehram” (male companion).
In 2020, over 2100 women applied under the ‘without “Mehram” category. Great news! Their applications from 2020 will still be valid for Haj 2021. Additionally, new applications from women wishing to perform Haj 2021 without a “Mehram” will be accepted. Importantly, these women will not need to go through the lottery system. Applications can be submitted online, offline, or via the Haj Mobile App.
Following discussions with Saudi Arabia, Shri Naqvi announced a reduction in the estimated costs per Haj pilgrim. The updated estimated costs are:
- Approximately Rs. 3,30,000 for Ahmedabad and Mumbai embarkation points
- Approximately Rs. 3,50,000 for Bengaluru, Lucknow, Delhi, and Hyderabad embarkation points
- Approximately Rs. 3,60,000 for Cochin and Srinagar embarkation points
- Approximately Rs. 3,70,000 for Kolkata embarkation point
- Approximately Rs. 4 lakh for Guwahati embarkation point
Shri Naqvi assured that strict national and international health protocol guidelines will be followed during Haj 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic. Haj 2021 is set to occur from June to July, and all processes are aligned with the necessary guidelines issued by both the Saudi Arabian and Indian governments, focusing on the health and safety of pilgrims.
The Haj 2021 arrangements come with special criteria, including health and fitness requirements, age restrictions, and other important conditions set by the Saudi Arabian Government in light of the Corona pandemic. Major changes are made in the entire Haj travel process, which includes accommodation, transportation, and health facilities in both India and Saudi Arabia. All pilgrims must follow the required guidelines strictly.
Each pilgrim will undergo a Corona test 72 hours before their journey. A PCR test certificate issued by an approved laboratory with a negative result is mandatory before flying to Saudi Arabia.
Due to the pandemic, the number of embarkation points for Haj 2021 has been reduced to 10, down from the previous 21 points across the country. The 10 embarkation points for Haj 2021 are:
- Ahmedabad
- Bengaluru
- Cochin
- Delhi
- Guwahati
- Hyderabad
- Kolkata
- Lucknow
- Mumbai
- Srinagar
The Ahmedabad embarkation point will cover all of Gujarat, Bengaluru will take care of all of Karnataka, and Cochin will cover Kerala, Lakshadweep, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The Delhi embarkation point serves Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and western Uttar Pradesh. Guwahati will assist Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Nagaland, while Kolkata serves West Bengal, Odisha, Tripura, Jharkhand, and Bihar. Lucknow will manage all of Uttar Pradesh except the western parts, Mumbai will include Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Daman & Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and the Srinagar point will cover Jammu-Kashmir, Leh, and Ladakh-Kargil.
