UP PGT Syllabus - Summary

Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Service Selection Board (UPSESSB) has recently announced and invited online applications for the recruitment of Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) and Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) vacancies in Intermediate and High School colleges across Uttar Pradesh. This recruitment drive offers a total of 15,508 vacancies. Many interested and eligible candidates applied online for these posts. The online application process commenced on 29th October 2020 and concluded on 30th November 2020.

Exam Details for TGT and PGT Posts

Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT)

• The exam will be of objective type (pen & paper based).
• Questions will be in the form of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
• Time allocated for this exam is 2 hours.
• The total number of questions will be 125.
• Maximum marks for this exam will be 500 (For Shiksha Mitra – 465).
• Each question will carry 4 marks.
• There is no negative marking for wrong answers.

Post Graduate Teacher (PGT)

• The exam will be of objective type (pen & paper based).
• Questions will be in the form of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
• Time allocated for this exam is 2 hours.
• The total number of questions will be 125.
• Maximum marks for this exam will be 425 marks.
• Each question will carry 3.4 marks.
• There is no negative marking for wrong answers.

SECTION 1 – LANGUAGE

1. Unseen passage for comprehension.
2. Usage, Tense, Spelling, Punctuation, Narration, Vocabulary, Idioms, and Phrases.

SECTION 2 – LITERATURE

1. Forms of literature and figures of speech.
2. Authors and Works – William Wordsworth, John Keats, Charles Lamb, P.B. Shelly, Charles Dickens, Matheu Arnold, Alfred Tennyson, Thomas Hardy; T.S. Eliot, Kamala Das, Mulkraj Anand, Nissim Ezekiel; Robert Frost, Walt Whitman, Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner and William Shakespeare.

2. Parts of speech, Spelling, Punctuation, Vocabulary, Tense, Narration, Preposition Usage, Transformation, and Agreement.

2. Authors and their works – Shakespeare, John Milton, William Wordsworth, and John Glanville.
