The Constitution of India (As on 1 April 2019), also known as the Bhartiya Samvidhan, serves as the supreme law of India. This important document sets out the framework that defines the fundamental political code, structure, procedures, powers, and duties of government institutions while also outlining the fundamental rights, directive principles, and duties of citizens. Remarkably, it is the longest written constitution in any country around the globe. B. R. Ambedkar, who led the drafting committee, is widely regarded as the chief architect of this vital legal document.
