1947 ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 15 ന് ഇന്ത്യക്ക് സ്വാതنت്യം ലഭിച്ചെങ്കിലും, ഈ രാജ്യം ഒരു ഭരണഘടന ഇല്ലാത്ത രാജ്യം ആയിരുന്നു.

ഡോ.ബി ആർ അംബേദ്കർ (Dr. BR Ambedkar) അധ്യക്ഷനായിരുന്ന 7 സദസ്യരുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ ഡ്രാഫ്റ്റിംഗ് കമ്മിറ്റിയിൽ നിർമ്മിച്ചത് ആണ് ഈ ഭരണഘടന.
