National Family Benefit Scheme Benefits
- This scheme aims to provide social assistance to poor households when the primary breadwinner passes away. The beneficiary is typically a household below the poverty line, and the support goes to the surviving member identified as the head of the household after a local inquiry.
- This is a fully Central sponsored scheme. It offers a Central assistance of ₹20,000 to families below the poverty line upon the death of the primary breadwinner. The Central Government covers all expenses related to this scheme.
Eligibility Criteria
- The primary breadwinner must be a member of the household whose income contributes to the overall household earnings.
- The death of this breadwinner should occur between the ages of 18 to 59 years, meaning they must be more than 18 years old and less than 60 years old.
- The household claiming the assistance must be below the poverty line.
- Eligible applications will be approved on a first come, first served basis from the waiting list.
