MS Word Shortcut Keys List
The most commonly used shortcut keys in Microsoft Word are listed here. If you’re looking for a list of shortcut keys for other programs, go to the computer shortcuts page.
Please keep in mind that not all of these keyboard shortcuts will function in all versions of Microsoft Word.
MS Word Shortcut Keys
Create a new document.
Save the document.
Open a document.
Close the document.
Cut the selected content to the Clipboard.
Select all document content.
Apply bold formatting to the text.
Apply italic formatting to text.
Apply underline formatting to text.
Decrease the font size by 1 point.
Increase the font size by 1 point.
Center the text.
Align the text to the left.
Align the text to the right.
Cancel a command.
Undo the previous action.
Redo the previous action, if possible.
Adjust the zoom magnification.
Alt+W, Q, then tab in Zoom dialog box to the value you want.
Split the document window.
Remove the document window split.
Alt+Shift+C or Ctrl+Alt+S
Copy the selected content to the Clipboard.
Paste the contents of the Clipboard.
On tabs, the ribbon organizes similar options. The Font Color choice, for example, is found under the Font group on the Home tab. The ribbon shortcuts, known as Key Tips, appear as letters in little graphics next to the tabs and options when you press the Alt key.
