Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are a crucial part of any economy, as they contribute significantly to employment generation, economic growth, and industrial development. Various governments around the world have implemented schemes and programs to support the growth and development of MSMEs.

The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises- Development Organisation (MSME-DO) is headed by the Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner (MSME). The Office of the Development Commissioner (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) assists the Ministry in formulating, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring different policies and programmes for the promotion and development of MSMEs in the country.

MSME Schemes List in India

  1. Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP): This scheme aims to generate self-employment opportunities through the establishment of micro-enterprises in the non-farm sector by providing financial assistance.
  2. Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE): CGTMSE provides credit guarantee cover to financial institutions for loans given to MSMEs, making it easier for them to access credit without the need for collateral.
  3. MUDRA Loan Scheme: The Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana offers loans to micro and small businesses to help them grow and expand. It categorizes loans into three segments: Shishu, Kishor, and Tarun, based on the stage of business development.
  4. Stand-Up India: This scheme encourages entrepreneurship among women, SC/ST, and minority communities by offering loans for setting up greenfield enterprises in manufacturing, services, or the trading sector.
  5. Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS): TUFS provides financial assistance to textile and jute industries for the modernization of machinery and technology.
  6. National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme (NMCP): NMCP includes various components to enhance the competitiveness of manufacturing enterprises, such as Lean Manufacturing Competitiveness for MSMEs (LMCS), Design Clinics Scheme, and more.
  7. Cluster Development Programme (CDP): CDP supports the development of industrial clusters by providing funding for infrastructure development, technology upgradation, and common facility centers.
  8. Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme (CLCSS): This scheme provides capital subsidy to MSMEs for upgrading their technology by replacing old equipment with new, energy-efficient ones.
  9. Export Promotion Capital Goods Scheme (EPCG): EPCG allows MSMEs to import capital goods for the purpose of producing quality goods and services to enhance their export competitiveness.
  10. National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) Schemes: NSIC offers various schemes for MSMEs, including raw material assistance, marketing assistance, performance and credit rating, and more.
  11. Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDPs): These programs are designed to provide training and skill development to aspiring entrepreneurs and MSME owners.
  12. Market Development Assistance (MDA) Scheme: MDA supports MSMEs in participating in international trade fairs and exhibitions to promote their products and explore global markets.
  13. Bank Credit Facilitation Scheme: This scheme aims to ensure timely and adequate credit availability to MSMEs by facilitating easier access to bank credit.
  14. Interest Subvention Scheme: It provides interest rate subsidies on loans to MSMEs, reducing the cost of borrowing.
  15. Quality Management Standards and Quality Technology Tools: Various schemes promote quality management and technology adoption among MSMEs to enhance product quality and competitiveness.
