Kerala’s state government has devised a novel strategy, the likes of which the country has never seen before.
The Pravasi Pension Scheme, an initiative of the Kerala Pravasi Welfare Board, was launched in April 2018 for the benefit of individuals who live outside God’s own nation. The many aspects of the pension program are discussed in this article.
Eligibility Criteria
The scheme aims to assist non-resident Keralites in their retirement or at the end of a period of employment overseas.
It should be emphasized that the policy does not apply to Kerala residents who are currently covered by a state or federal government pension plan.
Benefits of Pravasi Pension Scheme
- Non-Resident Indians living abroad will receive Rs 2,000 in exchange for a monthly contribution of Rs.100.
- Pensions are available at the age of 60, although contributions must be made consistently until then.
- For unbroken remittances for a period of five years, the system aims to reward the constant contributor with a 3% increase.
