Bharat Ratna

Bharat Ratna is the highest Civilian Award in India, given for exceptional contributions in the fields of Science, Literature, Arts, and Public Service. Notably, in 2013, sports were also included in this prestigious category.

The award has the shape of a Peepal leaf and is bronze-toned. It features the emblem of the Sun in the centre, with the words “Bharat Ratna” engraved below in Devanagari Script. On the back, the State Emblem and State Motto are displayed.

Padma Vibhushan

Padma Vibhushan is the second-highest Civilian Award in India, honouring individuals with distinguished achievements in Arts, Literature, Science, and Public Service.

This award is circular with a geometric design superimposed on it and is made of bronze. In the centre, a lotus flower is embossed along with the words “Padma” and “Vibhushan” inscribed in Devanagari Script above and below the lotus flower. The reverse side showcases the State Emblem and State Motto.

Padma Bhushan

Padma Bhushan is the third-highest Civilian Award, which recognises individuals for their achievements in various fields, including services by Government employees such as doctors and scientists—excluding those in public sector undertakings. Its design closely resembles that of Padma Vibhushan, with all embossings done in gold.

Padma Shri

Padma Shri ranks as the fourth highest Civilian Award, conferred for notable achievements across various fields, including the contributions made by Government employees. The award’s design features a geometric pattern over a circle, with the words “Padma” and “Shri” embossed on either side of the lotus flower at the centre. The entire award is crafted in stainless steel with a bronze finish on the periphery.

Gallantry Awards

Gallantry Awards are given to military personnel for acts of bravery and valour. These awards represent the highest level of courage and dedication in the armed forces.

The Gallantry Awards conferred in India are:
