Understanding the PMAY-G Application Process

Categories Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana can be applied for under two main categories:
- Under Other 3 Components – The Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Middle Income Groups (MIGs), and Lower Income Groups (LIGs) are the main beneficiaries under the Housing for All by 2022 Scheme. For EWS, the annual income limit is set at Rs.3 lakh. For LIG, the maximum annual income ranges from Rs.3 lakh to Rs.6 lakh. The MIG category has an income range of Rs.6 lakh to Rs.18 lakh. The Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) is available for both MIG and LIG categories, while EWS is eligible for assistance in all verticals.
- Slum Dwellers – A slum often refers to an area where around 60 to 70 households, or approximately 300 people, live in poorly constructed homes. These areas typically lack basic hygiene, infrastructure, drinking water, and sanitation facilities. Residents of slums can apply for the Housing for All by 2022 Scheme under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
