Jani emphasized that school dropout rates are influenced by social factors as much as by financial ones. He expressed concern that allowing parents to decide between using Rs 1 lakh for college education or weddings could have adverse effects on girls’ futures. Families with limited resources might opt to marry their daughters off early rather than investing in education.
