Assam Tractor Distribution Scheme Application Process

The application process for the Assam Tractor Distribution Scheme is straightforward and user-friendly:

The Department of Agriculture and the Mega Mission Society will create awareness about the scheme among farmers in the state through District Agriculture Officers (DAOs), advertisements in newspapers, broadcasts on radio and television, pamphlets, brochures, and other outreach methods.
Interested groups must submit their applications in the prescribed format to the District Agriculture Officer, who will present these applications before the District Level Committee (DLC).
The DLC will choose one eligible group from each village, along with a waiting list. Each group must maintain a deposit of at least 10% of the total price of the tractor unit in their bank account at the relevant bank branch.
The DLC’s decision will be final and binding on all applicants and groups.
The names of the selected groups will be announced by the Member Secretary.

Eligibility for Assam Tractor Distribution Scheme

To be eligible for the Assam Tractor Distribution Scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Benefits from the Assam Tractor Scheme cannot be claimed by individuals alone.
Groups comprising 8-10 actual adult farmers from the same village are eligible.
These groups should have a common bank account and must apply as a team, with the signatures of each member on the application form, ideally along with details of land and crops they cultivate.
No more than one member from a single family can join the applicant group.

Provision of Subsidy

The selected groups will receive a subsidy of 70% (up to a maximum of Rs. 5.5 Lakhs) on the purchase price of the tractor unit, which includes implements. A loan of 20% will be offered by the bank, while the remaining 10% must be contributed by the members of the applicant group.

In the revised tractor scheme, the government aims to provide one tractor along with the necessary accessories in each revenue village at subsidized rates. Approximately 10,109 tractors will be distributed in the first phase, covering all 26,000 villages of the state in a systematic manner.
