Components of the Scheme

1. The Scheme: The ‘West Bengal Purohits Bhata Scheme’ comprises two main components:
   1. Monthly Financial Assistance of Rs 1,000/- for underprivileged Purohits and priests from communities including Christians, Jains, Buddhists, and Parsis.
   2. A Housing Scheme to provide financial aid for impoverished Purohits and priests from similar communities.

• The applicant must be a resident of West Bengal at the time of application.
• The applicant should not be registered in any other social security pension scheme or receive a government pension from any organization.
• To be eligible for the housing grant, the applicant must not own a permanent home but should have a piece of land in their name. If the applicant lacks land, the State Government will assist in allocating land for housing support.
