Tamil Nadu Mail Subscription Form - Summary

  • Users are requested to keep the given user ID and password a secret to protect their Tamil Nadu Mail account.
  • Please change your password at least once every three months for added security.
  • If you do not follow these important guidelines (points 1 & 2), your account may be compromised by hackers. Hackers can misuse your account to send false emails. • Be careful! Do not open any email attachments unless they come from a known source. If you receive irrelevant emails, delete them immediately. These emails may contain harmful viruses that could damage your computer.
  • Users are advised to install personal firewall software to keep their devices and email traffic secure. Regularly install antivirus software with the latest updates and ensure your operating system has the most recent patches.
  • If you are using Outlook, Outlook Express, or Mozilla Firefox on Microsoft Windows, please apply the necessary patches announced by Microsoft or Mozilla as needed.
  • NIC or the Government is not responsible for the content of emails sent. The views expressed in the emails are solely those of the sender.
  • The Tamil Nadu Government e-Mail Service is provided over secure channels only. You can access the web interface over HTTPS (port 443), with POP service over POP3s (port 995), IMAP service over IMAPs (port 993), and SMTP service over SMTPs (port 465). Users should change their client software settings accordingly. For further assistance, please check the FAQ at: here.
  • By default, accounts will have web access only (https://mail.tn.gov.in). If a user wants access via POP/IMAP, they must request it by emailing email-support@tn.gov.in. For security reasons, you can choose to use either POP or IMAP, though NIC strongly recommends using IMAP for better security.
  • While NIC will take all possible measures to prevent data loss, unforeseen technical issues may arise. NIC cannot be held responsible for such data loss.
  • Users are responsible for their own data. If data is accidentally deleted, users cannot ask NIC to restore it.
  • It is your responsibility to save important email messages. Messages will be automatically deleted from folders as follows: Trash – after 7 days; Probably Spam – after 7 days.
  • Email accounts will be deactivated if not used for 90 days. Email IDs will be permanently deleted 9 months after deactivation if no request for reactivation is received. For any issues, contact our 24/7 support at phone number 044-25670193 or send an email to support@tn.gov.in.
  • The NIC coordinator has the right to request supporting documents, such as a copy of an identity card, to verify the credentials of the applicant. NIC will not share email account details or email addresses with anyone unless authorized by the competent authority of the department.
