The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, under the National Health Mission, aims to support children’s health needs. The screening of children in the 0-6 age group will be managed at the District Early Intervention Center (DEIC) level. For those aged 6-18 years, public health facilities will provide management for any identified conditions. The DEIC will act as a referral link for both age groups. 🌟
Screening occurs at various delivery points by Medical Officers, Staff Nurses, and ANMs. After the first 48 hours until 6 weeks, ASHA workers will conduct newborn screenings as part of the Home-Based Newborn Care (HBNC) package. Additionally, dedicated Mobile Health teams will perform outreach screenings for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years at anganwadi centers and for those aged 6-18 years in schools.
