Eligibility Criteria for Financial Assistance

The construction worker must be a registered Beneficiary with the Board and should have been consistently depositing his contribution.
If the beneficiary wants to avail benefits for a family member, that member must be defined as ‘family’ according to rule 2(t) of the Punjab Building & Other Construction Workers Rules, 2008. According to this rule, “Family” includes the husband or wife, minor sons (including major sons who are insane or physically handicapped and unable to earn), unmarried daughters, and the parents of the building worker, who are solely dependent on him.
Beneficiaries who are already covered under the ESI scheme are not eligible for this scheme.
This scheme allows beneficiaries to receive financial assistance for any type of general surgery for themselves or any family member. However, you can claim financial support only once in a financial year.
Applications for this scheme can be submitted through the Labour Inspector or Labour Enforcement Officer of your Area, or at the nearest Suvidha Kendra on the Board’s web portal.
A committee at the Sub-Divisional Level will check all applications. After the Deputy Commissioner approves it, the responsible officer will request the amount from the Board and ensure that it is paid to the beneficiary.
Beneficiaries or their family members can receive treatment from any government or private doctor. However, the reimbursement for treatment given by private doctors will be limited to what is approved by the Civil Surgeon, with a maximum amount of Rs. 50,000/-.
Beneficiaries wishing to use this scheme must first use benefits of Rs. 50,000/- for all health issues under the Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Beema Yojna Scheme before claiming more help under this scheme.
