NEET Undertaking Form for Scribe - Summary

The NEET Scribe Undertaking Form is a very important document for candidates who need a scribe during the exam. This form helps candidates get the right support to appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), which is the main exam to join medical and dental courses across India. NEET is the key exam that decides who will become doctors and dentists in the country.

For a fair exam environment, NEET has clear rules. One such rule is allowing candidates with physical challenges to use a scribe. This makes sure every candidate, no matter their physical ability, gets a fair chance to prove their knowledge.

Candidates who are visually impaired or have a permanent condition that slows down their writing speed may bring their own scribe. But remember, the candidate must bear the cost of the scribe. Here are important points to keep in mind about using a scribe in NEET:

  • The candidate must arrange a scribe at their own cost.
  • The scribe must not be a NEET candidate for the same exam session. Breaking this rule means both will lose the chance to appear for NEET. Also, candidates must declare the need for a scribe in the online application form. Requests later might not be accepted.
  • A scribe can only assist one candidate during the exam.
  • The scribe’s educational background can be different from the candidate’s. For Specialist Officers’ posts, the scribe must not have the same education as required for the post.
  • Both candidate and scribe must sign an undertaking confirming all eligibility criteria are met. If the scribe is found ineligible, the candidate’s NEET result will be cancelled, no matter how well they perform.
  • Candidates using a scribe get 20 extra minutes for every hour of the exam, or as instructed by the authorities.
  • Extra time is only for candidates registered for compensatory time. If a candidate did not register, extra time cannot be given.

Guidelines for Candidates with Locomotor Disability and Cerebral Palsy

If a candidate has locomotor disability or cerebral palsy and their dominant writing hand is affected, causing a slower writing speed, they will get 20 minutes extra for every hour of the exam. This applies only if the disability affects at least 40% of the writing hand.

Guidelines for Visually Impaired Candidates

  • Visually impaired candidates with 40% or more disability may choose to get the question paper in larger font and will get extra 20 minutes for each hour of exam.
  • But if visually impaired candidates choose to use a scribe, they won’t get the paper in enlarged font.
