Steps to Apply for Gratuitous Relief under Natural Calamities
To get good relief for natural calamities, follow these simple steps:
- The victims of a natural calamity must apply using the proper application form, which is available at the Taluka Mamlatdar’s office, within 60 days of the loss (Annexure W).
- Once the report and Panchanama are prepared by the Talathi, the Mamlatdar will send it to the Deputy Collector with the checklist and his recommendations within 7 days.
- Then, the Deputy Collector will submit the case to the Collector along with his recommendations within 2 days.
- The Collector will review the case and, if it qualifies under the natural calamity scheme, will issue an order recommending gratuitous relief from the Goa Disaster Management Fund Scheme, as per the notification dated 13/03/2008. The details are as follows:
- Ex-gratia payment for death & injury:
- Ex-Gratia payment for families of deceased persons is Rs. 1,00,000/- per deceased.
- Ex-Gratia payment for loss of limb or eyesight is Rs. 35,000/- per person.
- Grievous injury requiring hospitalization is Rs. 7,500/- per person.
- For families whose houses have been washed away, Rs. 2,000/- for clothing and Rs. 2,000/- for utensils per family.
- Ex-Gratia payment for repair of houses:
- Fully damaged (to be rebuilt):
- Pucca Houses: Rs. 25,000/- per house.
- Katcha Houses: Rs. 15,000/- per house.
- Major Repairs:
- Pucca Houses: Rs. 6,000/- per house.
- Katcha Houses: Rs. 4,000/- per house.
- Minor Repairs: Rs. 2,000/- per house.
