Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor Project Map - Summary
Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC) is a major project that connects Palwal to Sonipat via Sohna, Manesar, and Kharkhouda. This broad gauge double railway line is designed for both passenger and freight traffic. Benefits of the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor
This project will be beneficial to the industrial hubs of Kharkhouda, Manesar, and Sohna, aiding in the development of this region in Haryana. Additionally, the Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs has given its nod. The government has issued a Gazette Notification for land acquisition, and this process is currently underway.
Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor Project Map – Details
The Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC) project spans 121.742 km and is designed as a semi high-speed rail line. It links Harsana Kalan (Sonipat) to Asaoti (Palwal) and includes 17 stations along the Kundli – Manesar – Palwal (KMP) / Western Peripheral Expressway. The estimated cost of this project is Rs. 4,822.69 crore.
Passenger trains on this new broad gauge line will reach a top speed of 160 kmph, providing connectivity through Sohna, Manesar, and Kharkhoa via 14 new stations and 3 existing ones. Freight trains will connect key logistic hubs and follow Dedicated Freight Corridor standards for efficient freight movement. This rail corridor aims to bypass Delhi, offering interchange connectivity with the Indian Railways’ main routes (e.g., Delhi – Rohtak, Delhi – Ambala), the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) at Pirthala (near Palwal), major logistics centers, and the 106.5 km Delhi – SNB RRTS Line at Panchgaon.
Rolling stock and related services for the rail corridor will be managed and operated by the Indian Railways. The Haryana government granted in-principle approval for this project in December 2018, and it will be executed by the Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (HRIDC). Financing is anticipated through a $400 million loan from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
