Mangala Gowri Vratha
In the early morning, the lady should take a bath and prepare the Gowri idol using turmeric, decorating it with some cloth. All the pooja items must be ready. Uncooked rice is to be placed on the silver plate, while the kalasha is set on the rice plate and filled with water. Inside the kalasha, keep five betel leaves along with a coconut smeared with turmeric. Place the Gowri made of turmeric and a silver idol of Gowri if available, and also keep a Ganesha idol. Before starting the pooja, worship Ganesha and perform pooja for him. After this, proceed to perform abhisheka for the turmeric Gouri by sprinkling milk and water.
The ashotothra is done with flowers, and then a mangalrathri is completed. The story of Mangala Gouri is read while keeping kadge (apply ghee to a spoon and hold it over the lamp until the story is complete). Once the story is finished, remove the spoon from the lamp so it becomes covered in black ash; this ash is then placed on the foreheads of all the women called for the kumkum ceremony.
