A Caste Certificate is an important document which is used to officially verify a person’s belongs to weaker caste/category. This certificate is commonly required for government jobs, school and college admissions, scholarships, competitive examinations and various government schemes.
A Caste Certificate shall be valid for the life-time of the person so long as such caste/tribe is not removed or modified in the notifications issued by the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Department, Haryana. Further, certificates which include income and/or assets-based information like creamy layer criteria shall be valid for the current financial year, i.e. till coming 31st March (included) from the date it has been issued.

Caste Certificate Eligibility Criteria
Understanding the EWS Guidelines
- To be eligible for an EWS certificate, individuals must not qualify for the reservation schemes for SCs, STs, or OBCs, and their family’s gross annual income should be below Rs 8 lakh.
- Moreover, individuals whose families own any of the following assets cannot be recognized as EWS, regardless of their family income:
- 1.5 acres of agricultural land or more;
- A residential area of 1000 sq ft. or more;
- A residential plot of 100 sq. yards or more in notified municipalities;
- A residential plot of 200 sq. yards or more in other areas.
- When assessing EWS status, properties held by a “Family” across various locations will be combined.
- The term “Family” includes the individual applying for the reservation, their parents, siblings under 18 years, as well as their spouse and children below 18 years old.
