In Chhattisgarh, the Chief Minister Bal Shravan Yojana aims to help hearing-impaired children gain the ability to listen and speak. In Raipur district alone, a remarkable 37 children have undergone surgery in the past five years. Overall, 105 children have benefitted from cochlear implant surgeries at Ambedkar Hospital. However, this essential service is available in only a few hospitals across the state. Unfortunately, in the last five years, no child from five districts in the Bastar and Surguja divisions has received these benefits.

Understanding the Chief Minister Bal Shravan Yojana

In CM Bhupesh Baghel’s home district of Kawardha, not a single hearing-impaired child has received surgery so far. Children from districts like Sukma and Bijapur in the Bastar division, as well as Surguja, Balrampur, and Surajpur in the Surguja division, have not benefited from this initiative either. In total, only eight children have undergone cochlear implant surgery across the seven districts of Bastar.
