Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) Application Form - Summary

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is an important scheme launched to promote financial inclusion throughout India. The primary aim of this initiative is to ensure that every household has access to essential financial services like Banking/Savings & Deposit Accounts, Remittances, Credit, Insurance, and Pension in a simple and affordable way. With this plan, every family is encouraged to have at least one basic banking account, which will also boost financial literacy and provide access to vital services like credit and insurance. Beneficiaries of PMJDY receive a RuPay Debit card, which comes with accident insurance cover of ₹1 lakh, ensuring additional security for the account holders.

Importance of PMJDY

You can open a PMJDY account at any bank branch or Business Correspondent (Bank Mitr) outlet. A notable feature of this scheme is that accounts can be opened without any initial deposit, meaning there’s a zero balance requirement. However, to qualify for a checkbook, account holders need to maintain a minimum balance. This scheme is designed to assist individuals who do not have any bank accounts, providing them simple and easy access to important banking services.
