Required documents for Aadhaar Enrollment or New Aadhar Card
UIDAI requires original copies of the following documents for verification during enrollment:
- Proof of Identity (PoI) containing name and photograph, such as a voter ID card, PAN card, passport, driving license, or ration card.
- Proof of Address (PoA) carrying full residential details, including electricity bills, water bills, bank passbooks, or registered rent agreements.
- Proof of Date of Birth (DoB), such as a municipal birth certificate, passport, or board mark sheet.
- Proof of Relationship (PoR) documents, such as a family ration card or marriage certificate, if enrolling through the Head of Family method.
Cost of Applying for Aadhaar
Fresh Aadhaar enrollment is entirely free. UIDAI does not charge any fee for initial biometric and demographic registration. Mandatory biometric updates for children at age 5 and age 15 are also free. Only subsequent voluntary demographic updates cost Rs 50 and biometric updates cost Rs 100 at authorized centers.
Step-by-step Aadhaar enrollment process
STEP 1 – Obtain the official Aadhaar enrollment form from uidai.gov.in or collect a copy directly from your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
STEP 2 – Fill in your personal details, including full name, date of birth, gender, residential address, mobile number, and email ID in capital letters.
STEP 3 – Book an appointment online through the myAadhaar portal or walk directly into an authorized enrollment center.
STEP 4 – Hand over the completed form along with original identity, address, and date of birth documents to the enrollment operator for verification and electronic scanning.
STEP 5 – Provide your biometric data, which includes capturing ten fingerprints, iris scans of both eyes, and a facial photograph.
STEP 6 – Collect the printed acknowledgment slip containing your 28-digit Enrolment ID (EID) to track the generation status of your Aadhaar card online.
