Central List with Serial Number of Castes is an official record that shows the names of recognized communities in a clear and organized way. It is prepared by the Government of India to help people easily find their caste name along with its serial number for certificates, education benefits, and government schemes. This list brings transparency and simplicity, so citizens can quickly check whether their community is included and use the correct details without confusion.
The caste count in all other States will take place during the Population Enumeration (PE) phase in February 2027. According to the Government of India, this will be the 16th Census of India and the first time after Independence that all castes will be counted — not just Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST).
