Goat Development Scheme Form Rajasthan - Summary

Goat Development Scheme Form Rajasthan is an important initiative aimed at supporting local communities. Rajasthan is home to three well-known breeds of goats: Jakharana, Sirohi, and Marwari. With a goat population exceeding 216 million, this program plays a pivotal role in improving the livelihoods of the weaker sections of society.

Key Features of the Goat Development Scheme

The goat development programme focuses on enhancing Sirohi goats across ten districts in the South-Western regions of Rajasthan, which include Ajmer, Pali, Sirohi, Bhilwara, Rajasmand, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Banswara, Nagaur, and Udaipur. Goat farms managed by the department are active at locations like Ramsar in Ajmer district and the Cattle Breeding Farm in Nagaur and Kumher in Bharatpur District.

Breeding and Distribution

Selected kids of the Sirohi breed, aged around 4-6 months, are reared at the Ramsar farm in Ajmer and the Cattle Breeding Farm in Nagaur. Additionally, Jamunapari breed bucks are raised at the Cattle Breeding Farm in Kumher, Bharatpur District. These valuable bucks are distributed to goat breeders in Bharatpur, Dholpur, Karauli, Alwar, and Sawai Madhopur Districts.

After reaching breeding age, elite Sirohi and Jamunapari bucks are made available to goat breeders: BPL/ST/SC families can acquire them at ₹1200 each, while other families can obtain them for ₹1600. For out-of-state breeders or institutions, the cost is ₹5000.
