As per the latest rules, all shops, hotels, and establishments will remain closed during the night curfew and Sunday lockdown. However, restaurants may operate for takeaway services from 7 am to 10 pm.
Essential services, including milk and newspaper deliveries, hospitals, ATMs, petrol stations, buses, and diesel pumps, will continue to function.
Metro services will not be operational on Sundays or during the night curfew hours.
Citizens traveling between 10 pm and 5 am must provide proof of their journey.
Public transport such as buses, suburban trains, and Metro rail will operate at only 50% occupancy.
Classes for LKG and UKG will be suspended, while online classes for grades 1 to 9 will proceed as planned.
Physical classes can be held for Class 10, Class 11, and Class 12 students. All colleges, except medical and paramedical ones, will remain closed until January 20.
For weddings, the maximum number of attendees is set at 100, while funerals can accommodate up to 50 people.
Theatres, shops, and gyms must limit their operations to 50% capacity.
Amusement parks will not be open.
Beaches will be accessible but only for walking activities.
Public access to places of worship will not be allowed on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
The current restrictions on social, cultural, and political gatherings will remain in place.
All government and privately organized harvest festival ‘Pongal’ events have been postponed.
