আগামী বুধবার ১৪ ফেব্রুয়ারি পালিত হবে সরস্বতী পুজো। দেশের অন্যান্য অংশে এই দিনটি বসন্ত পঞ্চমী নামে পরিচিত। সরস্বতী পুজো হয় বলে বসন্ত পঞ্চমীকে শ্রীপঞ্চমীও বলা হয়ে থাকে। মাঘ মাসের শুক্লপক্ষের পঞ্চমী তিথিতে পালিত হয় বাগদেবীর আরাধনা। শাস্ত্র মতে এদিন দেবী সরস্বতী ব্রহ্মার মুখ থেকে আবির্ভূতা হন। সেই সময় অন্য সব দেব-দেবীরা তাঁর বন্দনা করেন। বসন্ত পঞ্চমী তিথি প্রকৃতির সঙ্গে সম্পর্কযুক্ত, কারণ এদিন থেকেই প্রকৃতির পরিবর্তন হয়, বসন্ত ঋতুর আগমনবার্তা সূচিত হয় ।
মা সরস্বতী হলেন জ্ঞান, বুদ্ধি, বিদ্যা, শিল্প ও সঙ্গীতের অধিষ্ঠীত্রী দেবী। মনে করা হয়, যে স্থানে মা সরস্বতীর বিরাজ করেন, সেখানে মা কালী ও মা লক্ষ্মীরও বাস। বিদ্যার দেবীকে সাক্ষী রেখে ছোট শিশুরা এদিন থেকে আনুষ্ঠানিক ভাবে ছাত্রজীবনে প্রবেশ করে। এদিন শিশুদের হাতেখড়ি দেওয়ার রীতি প্রচলিত আছে। এদিন ভক্তিভরে দেবীর আরাধনা করলে মনের সব বাসনা পূরণ হয়। তবে এমন কয়েকটি কাজ আছে, যেগুলি সরস্বতী পুজোর দিন ভুলেও করতে নেই বলে মনে করা হয়। বিশেষ করে ছাত্র-ছাত্রীরা এদিন এই সব কাজ করলে বাগদেবী কূপিতা হন।
Saraswati Vrat Katha
Once upon a time, there lived a king named Suketa. He was a good person and a follower of religion. He ruled the kingdom according to the rules of religion. The king used to take very good care of the citizens of his kingdom. He had a very beautiful wife named Suvedi.
Once the kingdom of Suketa was attacked and Suketa was forced to fight with her enemies. The enemies were strong and Suketa was not able to defend himself and ran away from the battlefield to save his life. His wife also ran away with him. Both of them fled after saving their lives and reached a forest in time. When they reached the forest, they were tired and hungry. They were eating whatever they got but still their hunger was not getting satiated because whatever they got to eat was very less.
Hunger had started showing its effect and the king could not even walk for a time. The king fell down and the queen was trying to pacify him by making her thigh as a pillow for the king. She was very worried and prayed to God for some help so that she could get rid of her worries and pain.
Incidentally, sage Angiras was on his way and saw the king and queen. He asked the queen who she was and how they had come to the forest. The queen narrated her story to the sage. The sage came to know that they are the king and queen.
Then he told the queen that there is a place called “Durga Kshetra” near Panchavati pond nearby. He advised the queen to worship the goddess with full devotion. The sage asked the queen and the king to go together.
They both went to that place with the sage. The sage asked the king and queen to take a bath in the holy pond. The king and queen returned after taking a bath. The sage made him worship Goddess Durga and Saraswati. He made her the Shodashopachara puja, which pleases the goddess by performing 16 different types of worship or service. This worship lasted for 9 days.
On the tenth day, a yajna was performed and 10 kinds of donations were made by the king and queen as directed by sage Angiras. Thus ended his fast. The couple lived happily in the ashram of sage Angiras. By the grace of the Goddess, he got a son. The boy was named Surya Pratap. The child grew up in the ashram and received all kinds of education including war. He grew up to be a great swordsman. He had no fear.
The boy became a young warrior and with the blessings of sage Angiras attacked the enemies who were now ruling his father’s kingdom. He defeated all the enemies on the battlefield and took control of his father’s lost kingdom. He returned to the ashram and with the blessings of the sage took his parents back to his kingdom. From that day onwards Suvedi used to observe this fast every year and her family lived happily ever after.
পুজোর গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সামগ্রী (Saraswati Puja Samagri)
শ্রী পঞ্চমীর দিনি সকালেই সরস্বতী পুজো সম্পন্ন করা হয়। সাধারণত নিয়মে পুজো হলেও বেশ কয়েকটি সামগ্রির প্রয়োজন হয়। যেমন- আমের মুকুল, অভ্র- আবির, দোয়াত- খাগের কলম, পলাশ ফুল, বই ও বাদ্যযন্ত্রাদি। এছাড়াও বাসন্তী রঙের গাঁদা ফুল ও মালা প্রয়োজন হয়।
প্রচলিত লোকাচার অনুযায়ী, সরস্বতী পুজো সম্পন্ন হওয়ার আগে পর্যন্ত কুল খেতে নেই। যদিও এর পেছনে রয়েছে আরও অনেক ব্যাখ্যা। তবে স্কুল- কলেজ ও বিভিন্ন শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানে বাগদেবীর আরাধনার করার পরে অঞ্জলি দিয়ে ছাত্র-ছাত্রীরা কুল খাওয়ার রীতি বহুদিন ধরে।
