Samba Dashami Brata Katha & Puja Vidhi in Odia
Samba Dashami vrat, also known as Surya Puja, is observed on the 10th day in Shukla Paksha in Pausha Month in Odisha. In 2021, Samba Dashami date or Surya Puja date is January 23. This festival is dedicated to Surya Bhagwan, mainly observed in Odisha.
On the day of Samba Dashami, the women in the family wake before sunrise. After bathing they prepare dishes such as Khichdi, Oriya Puri, and Ghadghadia Tarkari (a curry), and offer them to the Sun God at sunrise. One of the specific characters of this ritual is variety of individual food item is offered to Sun God in the name of each member of the family, especially children. Once the food items have been offered to the Surya, the women prepare a set of cake-like dishes called Pitha (cake), which includes Manda Pitha, Kakara Pitha, Poda Pitha, Arisha Pitha, Biri Laddoo, Makar Chaula, Chhenaguda, Dhanu Muaan, Khiri, Rasagola, Jhilli, Chhenagaja, and Sweet Curd.

ସାମ୍ବା ଦାଶାମି ବ୍ରତା କଥ ସନ୍ଧ୍ୟାରେ ଅନ୍ୟ ଏକ ପୂଜା ସାମ୍ବା ଦାସାମୀ ରୀତିନୀତିର ଏକ ଅଂଶ ଭାବରେ ପାଳନ କରାଯାଏ | ଏହା ହେଉଛି ‘ମହାକାଲା ପୂଜା’, ଯେଉଁଥିରେ ୟାମାଙ୍କୁ ସ୍ୱତନ୍ତ୍ର ବୁଦ୍ଧ ଚକୁଲି ଅର୍ପଣ କରାଯାଏ |
ଏହା ପରେ ପରିବାରର ମହିଳା ଲୋକମାନେ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ପ୍ରକାରର ପିଠା (କେକ୍) ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରିବାକୁ ଆଗେଇ ଆସନ୍ତି – ମାଣ୍ଡା ପିଥା, କାକରା ପିଥା, ଆରିଶା ପିଥା, ବିରି ଲଡ୍ଡୋ ଏବଂ ମାକର ଚାଉଲା, ଚେନା ଗୁଦା, ଧନୁ ମୁଆନ୍; ଖିରୀ, ରାସାଗୋଲା, h ିଲି, ଚେନାଗାଜା, ମିଠା ଦହି ଇତ୍ୟାଦି ମିଠା ଖାଦ୍ୟ |
ମଧ୍ୟାହ୍ନରେ, ଏକ ପାତ୍ରରେ କଦଳୀ ପାଣି ସହିତ ଏକ ଚାମଚ ‘ଚାଉନା ମୁଲା’କୁ ନିଆଯାଏ (ତୁଲସୀ ଉଦ୍ଭିଦ ଓଭରହେଡ୍ ସହିତ ଏକ ଛୋଟ ମନ୍ଦିର ପରି ଗଠନ) | ସମସ୍ତ ରନ୍ଧା ଖାଦ୍ୟ ଥାଳିରେ ପରିବେଷଣ କରାଯାଏ | ପରିବାରର ମହିଳାମାନେ କଦଳୀ ଜଳର ପାତ୍ର ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଭଗବାନଙ୍କୁ ଦେଖନ୍ତି ଏବଂ ସମସ୍ତ ଖାଦ୍ୟ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଭଗବାନଙ୍କୁ ଅର୍ପଣ କରନ୍ତି | ସେମାନେ ‘ସାମ୍ବା ଦାସାମି ବ୍ରତା କଥା’ର କିମ୍ବଦନ୍ତୀ ପ read ି ପରିବାରର ସମସ୍ତ ସଦସ୍ୟଙ୍କ ମଙ୍ଗଳ ପାଇଁ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରନ୍ତି।
