Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) is a flagship scheme launched by the Government of India in 2016 on the theme of One-Nation-One-Scheme. The Government of India’s flagship scheme PMFBY provides comprehensive risk coverage for the entire crop cycle – starting from pre-sowing to post-harvest activities and allows affected farmers to avail claims even in the middle of the cropping cycle.
PMFBY is currently implemented in 26 States and Union Territories. It is the third-largest crop insurance scheme in the World in terms of premium. Enrolment of farmers is done by banks/FIs, CSCs, Insurance Companies/its agents, by farmers themselves through online application on the PMFBY portal and Farmer’s App. These agencies enroll and submit their details and premiums to the ICs through NCIP.
