The Boy Who Cried Wolf

Once there was a boy who got bored while watching over the sheep in the village. To spice things up, he shouted that he saw a wolf chasing the sheep. All the villagers rushed to help. But when they arrived, there was no wolf! The boy found it funny, but the villagers were angry. They warned him not to do it again. Soon after, he played the same trick again. The villagers came running, only to find him laughing at them.

Later that day, the boy really spotted a wolf sneaking toward the flock. He shouted for help, but this time, no one came, thinking he was joking again. When the sun set, the villagers searched for the boy, who hadn’t returned with the sheep. They found him crying, telling them that a wolf had taken the flock. An old man comforted him, saying that nobody believes a liar, even when they finally tell the truth.
Moral: Lying breaks trust.

The Golden Touch

King Midas, a Greek king, once did a good deed for a Satyr, which made Dionysus, the god of wine, grant him a wish. Midas asked that everything he touched would turn to gold. Dionysus warned him against this wish, but Midas was too excited to listen. He touched everything around him, turning everything into gold.

However, hunger struck him, and he realised he couldn’t eat because his food had also turned to gold. When his beloved daughter ran to hug him, she turned to gold too. Midas then understood that his golden touch was actually a curse, not a blessing.
Moral: Greed leads one to downfall.

The Fox and the Grapes

One day, a hungry fox searched everywhere for food. He finally came across a farmer’s wall, which had big, purple, juicy grapes hanging from it. The fox jumped as high as he could to reach the grapes. After trying many times and failing, he gave up, thinking to himself that the grapes must have been sour anyway.
Moral: Nothing comes easy; do not hate what you can’t have.

The Proud Rose

In a desert, a beautiful rose and a cactus lived side by side. The proud rose would always insult the cactus, while the other plants tried to defend the cactus. But the rose was too caught up in its looks. One hot summer, with no water around, the rose started to wither. However, the cactus was able to gather water for sparrows. In desperation, the rose asked the cactus for help. The kind cactus agreed to share its water.
Moral: Never judge someone based on their looks.
