India National Parks List - Summary
A National Park is a special place meant for conservation and protection of nature. These parks are usually areas of natural, semi-natural, or developed land that a country officially recognizes. While each nation has its unique way of designating national parks, an international organization called the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) defines a National Park as a specific type of protected area.
India’s journey into establishing national parks started with the creation of Hailey National Park, which is now known as Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand, back in 1936. With the Wildlife Protection Act and Project Tiger introduced in 1972, India took important steps to protect the homes of many species that depend on conservation for survival.
