Amma Vodi Scheme Guidelines - Summary

The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has introduced the “AMMA VODI” scheme as a part of the “NAVARATNALU” initiative. This flagship programme aims to provide financial assistance to every mother or recognized guardian, in case the mother is not present, from households below the poverty line. This assistance is available regardless of caste, creed, religion, or region, helping them educate their child/children from Class I to XII (Intermediate Education) in all recognized Government, Private Aided, and Private Unaided schools/junior colleges, including Residential Schools and Colleges in the state, starting from the Academic year 2020-2021.

The second phase of the Amma Vodi scheme was launched on 11 January 2021 by Chief Minister YSR Jagan Mohan Reddy in Nellore. According to Education Minister A. Suresh, this phase will benefit around 44 lakh women who will receive ₹15,000 for ensuring their children attend school.

Amma Vodi Scheme Guidelines – Eligibility Criteria

  • The family must possess a white ration card.
  • The mother or guardian of the child must belong to a below poverty line household.
  • The family should have either a valid Aadhaar Card or a Voter ID Card.
  • Any child studying between Class 1 to Class 12, with an eligible beneficiary, must be enrolled in a government or private aided/unaided school or junior college, including residential institutions in the state, from the Academic year 2020-2021.
  • The mother or guardian must ensure that their child maintains a minimum of 75% attendance in school.
  • Both the parent and child must be citizens of Andhra Pradesh.
  • A child will not qualify for the scheme’s benefits if they stop attending school or leave mid-session.
  • Central and state government employees are not eligible for this scheme.
