Background of 1998 DSC Notification
In 1998, the Government of Andhra Pradesh announced the DSC-1998 Notification. The cut-off marks for candidates were set at 50 for OCs, 45 for BCs, and 40 for SC, ST, and Divyangs. Candidates who met these cut-off scores were then called for interviews. However, because there were no candidates in some sections, the government issued another order (GO 618) changing the cut-off to 45 for OCs, 40 for BCs, and 35 for SC, ST, and Divyang candidates.

Posting Before Schools Open: PDF
Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) have requested that postings should be given to the candidates before schools open. They expressed their joy over the Chief Minister’s signature on the appointment file. MLCs V. Balasubramanyam, K.S. Lakshman Rao, Yandapalli Srinivasa Reddy, I. Venkateswara Rao, and Sheikh Sabji highlighted the acute shortage of teachers in primary education, with over 20 thousand SGT posts remaining unfilled. They noted that already around 9 thousand primary schools are functioning as single-teacher schools and raised concerns over the increase in student enrollment in government schools, which has crossed 6 lakh. They urged that the same method used for the 2008 DSC candidates be followed for these appointments.
