Special Festival Advance Scheme - Summary

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has launched the Special Festival Advance Scheme to help boost shopping during the upcoming festivals. This scheme aims to encourage people to utilize these opportunities for increased spending, which will ultimately support the economy. Additionally, it includes a cash voucher plan for all government employees instead of the traditional special festival advance and LTC.

Revival of the Special Festival Advance Scheme

The Special Festival Advance Scheme is being reintroduced as a one-time initiative. Eligible central government employees can now receive an interest-free advance of Rs. 10,000, which they can repay in up to 10 easy installments. The government has reinstated this festival advance, previously removed after the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, specifically for this occasion until March 31, 2021. This initiative allows every central government employee to benefit from a hassle-free advance of Rs 10,000, which is recoverable in ten simple installments.
