• The candidate must arrange their own scribe at their cost.
• The scribe cannot be a candidate for the same NEET examination. If this rule is ignored, both the candidate and the scribe will lose their chance to sit for the exam. Candidates needing a scribe must mention it in the online application form; requests made later might not be accepted.
• One person cannot be a scribe for more than one candidate.
• The scribe can come from any academic background. However, for Specialist Officers’ posts, the scribe must have a different educational background than what is required for the post.
• Both the candidate and the scribe need to provide an undertaking that confirms the scribe meets all the eligibility criteria mentioned. If it is found out later that the scribe did not meet the required criteria, the candidate’s result will be cancelled regardless of their performance in the exam.
• Candidates using a scribe will receive an extra 20 minutes for every hour of the examination, or as directed.
• Only candidates registered for compensatory time will receive this extra time. The testing agency cannot assign extra time to candidates who have not registered for it.

Guidelines for Candidates with Locomotor Disability and Cerebral Palsy

Candidates with locomotor disability and cerebral palsy will be given 20 minutes of extra time for every hour of the exam, if their dominant writing hand is affected and slows down their performance (minimum of 40% impairment).

Guidelines for Visually Impaired Candidates

• Visually impaired candidates with at least 40% disability can choose to see the exam questions in a larger font and will receive 20 minutes of extra time for every hour of the exam.
• However, visually impaired candidates who opt to use a scribe will not be able to view the test in magnified font.
