Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), a global pioneer in agricultural education, research and extension had begun as an Agricultural School at Saidapet in Chennai in 1876 and the exclusive agricultural college was started in Coimbatore, during 1906. In 1920, the college was affiliated to the University of Madras and introduced a three- year degree program.

Candidates are required to pay the application fee of Rs 200/- (Rs. 100/- for SC, SCA, and ST category) online at the time of online submission of the application form. At the time of counseling, all provisionally selected candidates will have to pay a non-refundable counseling fee of Rs.200/- (Rs.100/- for SC, SCA, and ST).
The Private Diploma Institutes affiliated to TNAU are not authorized to admit any candidate against the seats allotted under government quota without specific prior approval of the Government of Tamil Nadu and TNAU.
